Education: What do you need?
What type of courses and grades do I need from high school?

You need to have English 30, Math 30 or 31, Biology 30, Chem 30 or Physics 30, and one other course from a group A,B,C, or D. (see the ualberta page for details)  You should have at least a 65% average, although the compeitive average is about 85% for the 2001 school year.

How long does it take to be a nurse?

Well you have two choices after you graduate from high school; take the diploma completion course or go for a bacholor of science in nursing (BScN).  The diploma program takes 3 years to complete and the BScN takes 4 years to complete. Both offer you a variety of clinical placements in areas like labor and delivery, community health, med/surg, pediatrics, and mental health nursing.
