Kaladan, The Blood Lord
Before becoming the most feared and violent pit fighter of Planet Taebos, Kaladan was a high commander for the armies of King Zarkon. Believing that conquest was done in the name of preservation of the Drule empire, Kaladan conquored civilizations in his king's name. But as time went by, he saw increasing evidence of cruelty and violence against prisoners. The more he saw, the more disgusted he became with Zarkon's methods. Being a military man, he believed in strict discipline for his soldiers. But they were defiant stating king Zarkon gave them the right to do with the prisoners as they pleased as they were seen as spoils of war. One night four guards attempted to rape a young woman named Selena. Infuriated with their actions, Kaladan attempted to pull them off and send them off. When they refused Kaladan became enraged and killed the guards. Knowing he would be in serious trouble, Kaladan helped Selena escape. He then renounced his alliegance to Zarkon. From that moment it became his mission to help free the people he'd helped enslave.
Kaladan and Selena fell in love with each other and stayed side by side even in the heat of battle. But their love was not to last. Hearing of Kaladan's treason, Zarkon ordered a trap be set for the firey haired drule and his commrades. Though they fought bravely, Kaladan and his companions, including Selena were captured. The ring leaders of the rebellion were executed. But a worse fate was in store for Kaladan. He was forced to watch the woman he loved be raped to death by Zarkon's men. Then he was tortured and nearly beaten to death. Left for dead on planet Taebos, known as the planet of lost souls, somehow he found the strength to seek help at a tavern headed by a woman named Alma. She and others nursed him back to health where he was approached by the owners of a pit arena. In exchange for revenge against the men who killed Selena, Kaladan would become the pit's champion. A reign of blood and violence ensued earning Kaladan the infamous title, The Blood Lord.
Artist Note: The modle for Kaladan was originally a picture tube downloaded from a picture tube website(at present I can't remember which site as I don't have the url.) The original modle is not mine. I have done some drastic altering to make the modle resemble my original character.
Right now digital art is what I'm doing as I cannot draw worth a fig. I am researching various tutorials and how to draw anime/manga sites so in time maybe I can actually draw illustrations that look truer to the characters. But for now, this will do.
