ROSES IN MY GARDEN
I have planted approximately 40 rose plants in my front and back yard as bare root plants in late winter 2003 and 2004.   I will update this site  with photos of these roses in my garden in the near future. I have  found those doing best in partial shade are Playboy, Ballerina, and Knockout.  Some rosarians would probably question where I placed the Ballerinas because they don't receive a lot of direct sunlight. They bloom, but would do much better with more light. Since much of my yard has mature trees, I wound up putting many of the roses in large containers on the pool deck and they are doing superb I lost two plants of Angel Face, probably due to lack of sunlight since I put those in lower light conditions than the others because I had heard they tolerate partial shade.  I guess they didn't tolerate it too well. Roses do need at least 4-5 hours of sunlight a day, bare minimum, if you expect them to make it. Give them more light and they do even better.
