As a two year old, Star Watch won his first five starts from 1100 to 1200 metres including the STC Skyline Stakes. His only
defeat as a two year old was in the STC Pago Pago Stakes when he was beaten by Zeditave. Star Watch cruised home a week later in the Slipper ridden by Larry Olsen (who had picked up the late ride) to
defeat stablemate Comely Girl. He came back as a three year old to win the AJC Up and Coming Stakes before embarking on a Melbourne campaign. In three starts he failed to win and it was decided
to retire him to stud for the 1989 season. Star Watch died prematurely after standing only two seasons at Woodlands Stud and yet in that time had foaled seven stakes winners including Hurricane Sky,
Star of Nouvelle, Port Watch and Tenor. |
