After winning the VRC Sires' Produce Stakes, trainer Angus Armanasco felt that the 1200 metres of the Golden Slipper would be too short for his horse who would be better suited by the 1400 metres of the AJC Sires' Produce Stakes.  However, thanks to a masterly ride by Mick Dittman in threading his way through a needle-eye opening along the rails, Full On Aces made his way past a wall of horses to win the Slipper before taking out the Sires at his next start.   He became the first Golden Slipper winner to stand at stud in New Zealand.
