Armitage is one of Mars’ top cops when she is introduced in Poly-Matrix.
She appears to be an attractive young woman, but is secretly a highly advanced
robot, a hybrid of a Type III android and an Assassinroid.
Armitage enjoys showing off her body with a variety of revealing outfits. Her standard work outfit is a red or black leather bikini, augmented by hot pants and a garter belt that holds up her stockings. Black elbow-length gloves, boots, and a leather collar complete the ensemble, with a red leather jacket as an accessory. The most important item in Armitage’s fashion arsenal, however, is her black wraparound visor, which hides her upper face and eyes entirely when worn and provides away for her to retreat from the world around her and hide her thoughts, acting as a security blanket as well as a warning sign to those who know her. Those close to Armitage know that when she puts her visor on, she is best left alone.
Sensitive and caring but also quick to anger, Armitage is easily offended by prejudiced comments about robots in general and is as likely to erupt into yelling or violence as she is to put on her visor and simply walk away, shutting the offending person out. She sees the anti-robot groups of Mars as a bunch of idiots, unable to see that their actions are driven by fear and a perceived threat, or, perhaps, not caring. She has little use for those she considers to be fools, whether robot or human, and has no compunctions about letting them know how she feels. Even after she has matured emotionally Armitage acts this way, which can sometimes make her seem hard or cold.
Armitage is at her most gentle at the beginning of Dual-Matrix, as she is living peacefully and happily with Ross and their daughter Yoko. If the threat of Demitrio and Strings hadn't arisen, it is more than likely that Armitage would never have reverted to the violent person from the first adventure.
As an Assassinroid offshoot, Armitage was built to be stronger, faster, and tougher than humans and the later Thirds. She was also programmed with a wide variety of fighting skills ranging from unarmed combat to melee, firearms to lasers, as well as incredible balance and acrobatic skill. She has since augmented those skills with others gained through police training, including tracking down suspects and following people. What she does in her free time is a bit of a mystery; she may simply always be working.
As an advanced robot Armitage has the ability to mentally enter cyberspace, as well as take control of unprotected computers through a short-range remote control. As most vehicles on Mars are controlled by or at least include a computer this includes them, though military vehicles generally have higher levels of protection than most and are likely to resist her control. Any vehicle being manually controlled is also hard to command, though not impossible. Armitage rarely uses these abilities, as they are fairly obvious and reveal what she is.

The
pistol that Armitage uses is one built specifically to fire large-calibre
rounds, necessary in her line of work for taking down Seconds involved
in crimes. To help deal with the recoil such rounds produce and steady
the aim of shots fired in rapid succession the weapon was equipped with
an extra hand-grip under the barrel, though Armitage’s strength allows
her to use the pistol in the normal fashion instead and still be accurate.
Her version of the pistol is a lovely pink colour, and may be mistaken
for a toy until she fires it.
The pistol is semi-automatic and fires one bullet per pull of the trigger. It inflicts 10 damage, uses the Gun Combat (Pistol) Skill, and is a major Personal Item. The weapon has the Concealable and Penetrating (Armour) Abilities, and the Short Range and Unique Weapon Disability (+2 to Attack rolls unless firer uses both hands or has Super-Strength) Disabilities. Ammunition is loaded with a magazine into the butt of the pistol, and each magazine holds 20 rounds.
