In 1975 Nova's with console mounted Automatic the dash linkage
for gear position is still connected,so you must put the
shifter in Park to remove the key, which locks the steering wheel &
transmission in park. In my 1977 Nova sedan with a 4-speed, you must put the transmission in reverse which moves linkage in the steering column to be able to lock the trans. & the steering wheel to get the key out. In 1974 & 75 Nova's they also originally came with a seatbelt interlock system which activated a buzzer & dashboard warning light if there was any weight in the driver or passenger seat without the seat belt hooked. |
