Howard Allen OBrien was born on the 4th October 1941 in New Orleans. In 1957 she and her family moved to Richardson, Texas, where she met Stan Rice in high school. Two years later she graduated from high school. One year after their marriage, she and Stan Rice moved to San Francisco in 1962. In 1966 their first daughter, Michele, was born and, one year later, the Rices moved to Berkeley. Before Micheles sixth birthday, in 1972, the child died of leukemia. One year later Anne wrote "Interview with the Vampire" in five weeks. In 1974 Anne met the literary agent Phyllis Seidel at a writers conference. Seidel sold the novel "Interview with the Vampire" to Knopf. Two years later the novel was published to mixed reviews. In 1978 Christofer was born. One year later, "The Feast of All Saints" was published. In 1982 "Cry to Heaven" was published and Annes short story "Master of Rampling Gate" was published in Redbook magazine. Under the name A. N. Roquelaure, were published "The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty" (1983), "Beautys Punishment" (1984) and "Beauty Release" (1985). "The Vampire Lestat" was published in 1985. Under the name Anne Rampling, were published "Exit to Eden" (1985) and "Belinda" (1986). In 1988 "The Queen of the Damned" and "The Mummy, or Ramses The Damned" were published and the Rice family moved to New Orleans. Between 1990 and 1994 were published, "The Witching Hour" (1990), the first book about Anne Rice "Prism of Night" by Katherine Ramsland (1990), "The Tale of the Body Thief" (1992), "Lasher" (1993) and "Taltos" (1994). In 1994 the motion pictures "Exit to Eden" and "Interview with the Vampire" were released. "Memnoch, the Devil" was published in 1995, "The Servant of the Bones" in 1996, "Violin" in 1997, "Pandora" in 1998, "The Vampire Armand" in 1998, "Vittorio, the Vampire" in 1999, Merrick in 2000 and Blood and Gold in 2001. The audio book "The Master of the Rampling Gate" was out in 2002. "The Blackwood Farm" was published in 2002 and "The Blood Canticle" in 2003. In 2005 "Christ the Lord: out of Egypt", a novel about the life of of Christ, was published. |
