![]() Here were the main things I think it's worth pointing out ~about my school~: -Students going there were excessively wealthy; -At 15, their parents had bought them the new "Mercedes" of the year; -Their parents were doctors, lawyers, professionnals, working for the governement, all had degrees of some kind. ME=> I was coming from an average family: my mom, a single-parent, working full time as a nurse, struggling to meet the ends. My dad died when I was 8 years old. COMPETITIVNESS: Each year, we had awards ceremony,to congratulate those who had had the BEST marks among all students of our grade. This was how it went: "Having an 4.0 average is okay." <= like,A- is good, A is very good, A+ is great. I DON'T KNOW!! Who, can honestly, end up with a A+ average in ALL subjects and have maintained a 4.0 average all year long, from Sept. to June?? Very few people can. ME=> I was beating myself up for it, as usual!I remember sitting there crying and being SO angry with myself, for not having that 4.0 average. " They all thing I'm just a loser here.." I was feeling like I was some kind of a 50-IQ girl, a nobody... |
