I was sent this photograph recently by James Taylor, editor of Landrover Enthusiast magazine. It seems to show an early IIA One Ton 109" fitted with a specially constructed stakeside/trayback body. Its is cleary on 900x16 tyres, and appears to have drop shackles, and a rear mounted fuel tank. The colour would seem to be bronze green, and the vehicle has deep sills with lamps in the wings. This leads me to conclude it is a very early machine, quite possibly in chassis number range 2-6 all of which were built in bronze green and delived to Windmill and Lewis of bristol in april 1969. Unfortunately I have no information of a registration number - I wonder if its still on the road? Another possibility is that it was an export model, although it does appear to be right hand drive. |
