Rei Ayanami, who is also known as The First Child in NERV, was genetically engineered through the Human Instrumentality Project. Besides Shinji and Asuka, she has perpetually no other friends. She is quiet and has no emotions. Although Rei is cold, I feel that she is actually quite humourous at times when she starts to open up in rare occasions. Her smile is especially endearing to me. ^^
