Microsoft WORD documents containing embedded charts can be changed as follows:

 

1. The values and text in a chart are linked to a Microsoft Excel worksheet. The chart is updated when you change the data on the worksheet or datasheet.

2. In Word, double-click the chart you want to change.

3. A Microsoft Excel worksheet opens up.

a. Click the sheet tab that contains the data for the chart — for example, Sheet1. Click the cell that contains the text or value you want to change.

b. Type the new text or value.

c. Press ENTER.

4. Make sure that the chart is displayed in the Word document when you return to Word, click the tab for the sheet that contains the chart — for example, Chart1.

5. To return to Word, click the Word document.

 

Note   To find out where the data on the worksheet contains the data for your Microsoft Excel chart, click the chart, and then click Source Data on the Chart menu. On the Data Range tab, look in the Data range box to see the sheet and range references for the chart.
