What to Do if a Friend Who's Been Drinking Wants to Drive
- Don't let the person drive
- Encourage him or her to ride home with a nondrinker
- Walk the person home
- Take away the person's car keys
- Give the person bus, subway, or cab fare
- Call a safe-rides service
- Call the person's parents
- Ask the host's family to let the person spend the night
Do whatever you can to keep the person from getting behind the wheel. You could be saving your friend's or someone else's life.
