I have recently given up my beloved 'Kirkcairn prefix' to my ex spouse.
I obtain my new prefix from Dogs NSW - 'Calmaceile' - 'Calma' means "Brave" and 'Ceile/Ceili' means "Companion" - "Brave Companion" which I thought was most fitting to describe a Cairn.
My beloved Ch. Kirkcairn Ella Fitzgerld (Kailee)is now owned by my daughter Thea, Ch. Kirkcairn Hot Toddy (Rhauri) and Kailee's son Kirkcairn Sgt Pepper (Gadget) are now owned solely by me, stayed tuned for more updates. Kind regards, Amanda
Welcome to Calmaceile Cairn Terriers! My family got out first Cairn Terrier, "Jack", 14 years ago. We were getting over the death of our beloved Australian Terrier, "Beau". I saw an advertisement in the paper for Cairn Terriers. I rang and enquired, our family talked about bringing a new puppy into our home and we went and checked out some photos and read a little and decided that we'd love to have a Cairn in the family. "Jack" came from Dubbo and was so cute, a black ball of fluff! He settled right in and is still our wonderful pet and member of our family.
18 months later when our lovely Australian terrier, "Cinnamon", passed away from old age, we picked up our cairn baby girl "Megg". Jack was lonely, so Megg joined our family, Jack brightened up and loved hanging out with Megg. By the time Megg was 6 months old, I looked into dog showing and decided to take it up as a hobby, a fun outing for me and my two children.
I was terrified on my first go but fortunately I'd had a couple of training sessions at Hillsborough Canine Centre, so I didn't look like a total novice. I enjoyed showing "Megg" and learnt alot from other show people about grooming etc..
I have been showing and breeding Cairns for 12 years now and I have made a lot of new friends. I'm continually learning about grooming, and the show circuit which still amazes me. Over the years I've learnt and gained so much since my first day in the show ring and as long as the dogs enjoy the ring, as much as I do, we'll be out and about at the weekends. All my dogs are my pets and everyone has their own special ways. I hope you enjoy my webpage, please email me if you have any enquiries.
