Fort Worth Bonsai Society

Meeting Information

The Fort Worth Bonsai Society meets on the second Thursday of every month at 7:00 pm at the conservatory of the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens, 3220 Botanic Garden Boulevard. The gardens and conservatory are located on University Drive just west of downtown Forth Worth. Each regular meeting begins with a short business meeting followed by a program. In addition, an informal workshop is held on the fourth Thursday of each month for members wishing to bring in trees for advice or simply to work on their trees in the company of other bonsaiists.

The Fort Worth Bonsai Society is a fairly young club with many beginners to the art. Meetings range from talks on various aspects of bonsai, to demonstrations by nationally recognized bonsai artists, to members workshops. We have two yearly shows held in conjunction with the Fort Worth Botannic Gardens "Springfest" and "Fallfest" celebrations in the Japanese Gardens. In addition, we have one yearly "show & sale" at the Conservatory of the Botannic Gardens at which vendors sell bonsai and bonsai-related items. We are a friendly, informal group so feel free to show up at any meeting. If you should choose to join, our yearly dues are $25/person or $35/couple.

June Meeting

Long time member, Ray Hernandez, will be giving a program on maples. This program is a follow up to several years worth of maple programs that he has given. Ray will be bringing trees that we have seen before to note their progress. New projects of his will be presented as well.

Ray is owner and founder of Bent Tree Bonsai in Dallas. He and his wife, Maria, have been generous donators to both the Fort Worth and Dallas Bonsai clubs.

For SHOW & TELL, everyone bring in a maple for a possible critique and certainly some discussion. Other trees of interest are always welcome as well.
