This diagram shows the wing of an aircraft. The ailerons is situated near
the tips of the wing. The ailerons coordinate
turns of an aircraft. The movement of turn is known as banking. The pilot uses the yoke
to turn or bank the aircraft. Now I will explain how the ailerons work.
Straight
and Level Flight
This diagram shows the position
of yoke and the ailerons duing straight and level flight.
Position of aircraft during
level flight.
Turning Left
This diagram shows the position
of yoke and the ailerons when the aircraft banks to the left. The aileron at the left hand side
of the wing is up while the aileron at the right hand side is down.
Position of aircraft when
banking to the left.
Turning Right
This diagram shows the position
of yoke and the ailerons when the aircraft banks to the right. The aileron at the left hand
side of the wing is down while the aileron at the right hand side is up.
