My Safe Harbor

Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb entered my life
in quite an unusual way actually. They woke me up!
I was sleeping peacefully on the sofa one evening
when I was suddenly brought to consciousness by
some mighty strange voices singing to me.
"Since I got no answer on your answer phone”!"
Who is that, I wondered. I opened my eyes and
there before me were the strangest combination of
men I had ever seen. One of them, the one who
appeared to be the lead singer, looked like he
might be a country singer. The next one they
showed, the one with the hat, looked a hit-man
for some crime family. The third one held a close
resemblance to Beetlejuice! But no matter how they
looked, their singing was incredible. I had to find
out more about them. So I rubbed the sleep from
my eyes and sat up to pay more attention. During the
interview with Jay Leno, I discovered that these
marvelous voices belonged o none other than the
Bee Gees. Remarkable!
I thought they only sang disco!
This is how my "love affair" with the Bee Gees began.

For months afterward, I searched the radio stations
trying to find one that would play this marvelous
song. None did. Then, in February of 1998, it was
announced that there would be a Bee Gees concert
special on the HBO television station. Now my
dilemma. I was very interested in the Women's
Olympic Figure Skating competition that was
scheduled for the same time. Which one do I
tape and which one do I watch? I chose to
watch the figure skating with my family and
tape the concert. Good decision! When I finally
did watch the concert, I realized that they sang
a lot of songs that I had always liked.
Massachusetts, Words, Nights On Broadway,
I Started A Joke. The list goes on and on.
They DO sing more than disco!

Also, during this time, my dads health was failing
due to heart disease. I was constantly "on call"
to go to his house whenever he would need me, day
or night, to sit with him, and to keep my mom
company during the saddest time in her life. So I started
using my One Night Only concert video as a safe
harbor from this sadness that had entered my life. Some
nights I would play the video three or four times . Falling
asleep to these wonderful vioces and waking up when it was
over, only to rewind and play it again.
Dad died on April 10, 1998.

Then, just as I was recovering from this loss,
my husband Dave, bacame ill and died unexpectedly
of a staff infection. This was the ultimate blow.
And once again I had to call upon the magical
talents of Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb for
comfort. For that safe harbor. And again they
were there for me with the single touch of a
button on my CD player.

I thank God every day for
Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb
for their talent
is surely God given. They are a part
of my life now and will be forever.

Thank you God for giving the world these
talented men. Please bless them with health
and happiness in all of their lives.
Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb,
I Will Love You Forever.
