Hi fellow fans,
I Drove down to Fla from Kentucky for a family vacation with
the 4 kids this past week. Drove to Miami to see the Bee Gees
whom I knew were in town. Although I suppose I should have been
happy to at least see them all at the studio, but I was dissappointed.
Maurice and Robin were very sweet and posed to take pics and
to sign
autographs for me even if just for a couple minutes. Barry was
very brusk and refused to take pics, saying what a rush he was
in despite the fact that he was the first to arrive. Even when
I tried to tell him how I was unable to meet him at the AGMF he
walked off saying he was late.
This is my second trip ever to Miami at 34 years old. The first
trip was at this past years AGMF at which Mo was the only brother
there. I drove a total of 20 hours each way to see them with all
my kids in tow. Been a fan all my life. Can never afford Vegas
or New Years Eve shows. This would be one of my few opportunities
to meet them. However, I was disillusioned. To be brushed
aside
by Barry really bugged me.
My point is this...Sure, we all have bad days, but is this how
to treat the most dedicated fans, not even able to give a minute
of their time to those who support them the most!
Thanks to Robin and Mo for your graciousness - giving me a memory
I will treasure. Alan Kendall, so funny... To Barry, thanks
anyway - it was an eye opener.

CHOICES

Now Eve is bad and treats me cruel
She likes to see me lookin'
like a fool
Have you ever had one of those days when you would just as
soon pull
the covers up over your head and stay in bed all day?
But what did you do
instead? You got up, showered and dressed,
and headed off to work anyway. But
when you got there did you
give your very best or did you just do what you had to do to get by?
Don't you think it is the same way with celebrities? What price
do they
have to pay for their stardom? Are they obligated to be there
everytime a
fan is nearby with a pen or a camera? Are they at the beckon
call everytime
someone sees them walking into their place of work?
Oh, sure, you say. But signing autographs and posing for pictures is
part
of their job! But is it really? How many entertainers make
themselves so
accessible to their fans? Not many. So this must be
something that the Gibbs
do because they WANT to, not because they
HAVE to. So if they have a day when
they don't want to be so available
don't you think they have the right?
Somewhere along the line, they have to choose what is best for themselves
and stop thinking about the fans. Now I do think that most fans would
be
thrilled just to see them walk by. Memories of the heart don't need
pictures
and autographs. Pictures and autographs must be seen to be
appreciated,
but memories of the heart are with us all of the time.
Some of you have seen and even met the brothers and some of you
haven't.
But I would bet that if any of you did get the chance to just see
them, you would
take with you a memory that would never die, picture or not,
because it is all
about love and respect. And when you truely care the
respect is there.
Oh sure, I would love to have an autograph and a picture taken with each one
of
these wonderful men. But if it didn't happen, so what? I would still
carry with
me a memory to last a lifetime. I would rather have the people I
love, the ones
I care so much about, choose what is in their own best
interest and not worry
about my ego or happiness. That is my job. And just
as I would want them to
choose to take care of themselves, I would also make
a choice. That choice
being to care for them by allowing them to be free
from my demands.
I've made up my mind now I am choosing them.
Now they are two and I am one
I can not fall in love with
everyone
So I must choose between the two
Made up my mind now I am
choosing you

Everyone is free to voice their own opinion and I am no
exception. This editorial is my opinion and mine alone.
Maybe it has something to do with the events in my life
in the past year that makes me so aware of the true
meaning of what is important. When reality hits so
hard and so quickly, it snaps you back into the "real
world" where the main concerns in life are not meeting
celebrities and getting autographs, but meeting the
bills and getting through the day alone. I love the Gibbs
with all my heart and I feel I owe them a debt I will
never be able to repay. So this is what is behind
this editorial and nothing more.
If I were to get to see the brothers, I would go away
a happy woman. But we all have our own opinion of what
happiness is. If I never get to see them, my life will
still be richer because of their talents that they have
CHOSEN to share with all of us for so many years.
