| Equilibrio is a Spanish word meaning balance or poise, and "Brio" lives up to his name! His way of moving is poetry in motion. Watching him do a beautifully balanced and collected canter across his pasture, you would think there was an invisible dressage rider on his back. He currently stands 15.3. With his naturally level headset and sweeping stride, he would be a natural hunter. We believe the combination of his foundation Appaloosa sire and his Thoroughbred dam make for an outstanding Sport Horse with height, stamina, strong feet & bone, and a tractable personable temperment. Not to mention that eye catching color! His pedigree represents a perfect blend of good old foundation blood (Sundance 500, Patchy, Red Eagle), along with the royal breeding of the TB (Damascus, Tom Fool, Ribot). Brio has lovely gaits, a refined head, extreme intelligence, and an extraordinarily mellow disposition --- his color is just the icing on the cake! We will not sacrifice quality for color. Brio will be a wonderful cross on Warmblood, TB, or Appaloosa mares to produce athletic, flashy Sport Horses. UPDATE 7/2003: We are proud to announce the arrival of Brio's first foals --- two beautiful blanketed chestnut colts! Way to go Brio (and the mares, of course)! UPDATE 3/2004: Brio is going into hunter training with Circle Bar T. He will be standing there for the 2004 and 2005 breeding seasons. Please contact us for more information. UPDATE 7/2004: Brio's first filly, Equiliberty, arrived in May! UPDATE 7/2005: Two fillies born this year, both colored! UPDATE 6/2006: This is a long overdue update. Last fall, we made the difficult decision to geld Brio. This is not a reflection on his abilities as a sire, but our desire to take a break from breeding to focus on other interests. I haven't decided between keeping as my own riding horse, and selling him to someone who would do him justice in the show ring. Inquiries welcome. |
