|Welcome to Townshend Farm of Bolton, Massachusetts.
Townshend Farm was established more than 70 years ago by Anna Dickson Ela. Today the farm is run by Anna and her daughter, Nancy Caisse.
Since literally before the Great Depression, Anna Ela has been promoting the Morgan horse. In 1928 she began breeding Morgans and since then she had devoted her energies to judging, instructing and sharing her love of horses with youth. For more than 40 years she stood hand in hand with the American Morgan Horse Association and the Green Mountain Horse Association all along winning innumerable World and National championships in Driving, Dressage, Pleasure and Hunters. In 1998, she was honored with an AHSA Ellen Scripps Davis Memorial Breeder's Cup. In 2002, she was honored again as a recipient of the Pegasus Medal of Honor.
Nancy is an active member of the New England Morgan Horse Association. While devoting a majority of her time to breeding, Nancy coordinates Morgan Row at the Equine Affaire in Springfield, Massachusetts. You can learn more about the Morgan horse pedigree by participating in the breed demonstrations held throughout the weekend.
Held November 11-14, 2004 in Springfield, Massachusetts.
