Fruity Turnovers

Ingredients:

Pastry

All-purpose flour

 

 

Pinch of salt

Butter, cut up

Package cream cheese, cut up

Eggs, beaten

Apple Filling

Apples, medium size, peeled, cored, diced

Egg, beaten

Cup

Sugar

Cinnamon

Lemon rind, grated

Directions:

Sift the flour and slat into a bowl, cut in the butter and cream cheese until he mixture resembles coarse meal. Add the eggs and ice eater, adding a few additional drops of water as necessary to hold the dough together. Turn out the mixture onto a lightly floured board and knead gently until smooth. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 15 min.

Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/3 thickness. Cut out 12 - 3 rounds.

Brush the edges of the rounds with beaten egg and mound some filling on one half of the round leaving 14 at the edge. Fold over the round and press together with a fork to seal. Make 3 slits on top of each to vent. Sprinkle with a bit of sugar and make in a 400 oven for 25 minutes or until puffed & golden.

Apple Filling:

In a medium bowl toss the diced apples with the cinnamon and sugar and lemon juice. After placing Apple mixture on Rounds dot with a bit of butter.

Mincemeat can also be used to fill these Turnovers following package directions.
