Spicy Butter Squares

Bittersweet Chocolate, Melted

Directions:

In a small bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt, cardamom, cinnamon, and allspice.

Beat together butter and sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium, until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Reduce speed to low and blend in flour mixture until combined. Form dough into two 12 x 1=1/2 logs. Wrap in plastic and chill for 1 hour or until firm.

Preheat oven to 350F.

Slice into cookies and place 1 apart on baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden. Cool on baking sheets for 3 minutes before removing to wire racks to finish cooling.

Icing: Whisk together coffee, vanilla, and milk until coffee is dissolved, then add confectioners sugar to make a smooth pourable icing. Spoon into a sealable plastic bag and snip off 1/8 bottom corner.

Spoon chocolate into another plastic bag and snip off 1/8 bottom corner.

Pipe some coffee icing and chocolate icing over each cookie and set on racks until icing sets.
