Orange Crisps



1 cup Butter or butter flavored shortening 

1 cup sugar 

1 large egg 

2 teaspoons orange extract 

1/2 teaspoon orange zest 

1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour 

1/2 teaspoon salt 


Sugar Or Orange Decorator Sugar


2 Cups Confectioners Sugar - Optional

1/4 Cup Orange Juice - Optional


Preheat oven to 375 degree F. Either lightly spray two cookie sheets with non-stick spray or cover with parchment paper.

Beat butter or shortening with electric mixer for 2 minutes or until creamy. Gradually add sugar and beat until mixture is light and fluffy. Add the egg and mix well. Add the orange extract and orange zest and blend well. Add the flour and salt to the creamed mixture and mix until well blended.

Drop dough by teaspoonfuls (or small ice cream scoop) 2 inches apart onto prepared cookie sheets. Bake for 11-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.

Cool on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes then move to wire racks to cool completely

Either sprinkle with granulated sugar or orange decorator sugar. OR mix the confectioners sugar and orange juice in a small bowl, add more confectioners sugar if to thin. Place in a decorator bag with a round decorator tip and draw circles of frosting around cookies.
