Hot-and-Sweet  Brittle



1 cup sugar

1/2 cup light corn syrup

1 cans (5.5 oz.)  Pecans

1 cans (5.5 oz.) Cashews

1 Tbsp. butter

1 tsp. vanilla

1 tsp. hot pepper sauce

1 tsp. baking soda


 Microwave sugar and corn syrup in large microwaveable bowl on HIGH 5 min., stirring after 3 min. Stir in nuts. Microwave an additional 3 to 5 min. or until golden brown.

Add butter, vanilla and hot pepper sauce; stir until butter is completely melted. Microwave 1 min. Stir in baking soda. (Mixture will foam.)

Spread mixture onto lightly greased baking sheet. Cool completely. Break into pieces
