Cherry Glazed Sponge Cake



1 Cup Butter

1-1/2 Cup Sugar

4 Eggs

1 Tsp Almond Extract

2 Cups Flour

1 Can (21 Ounces) Cherry Pie Filling

Powdered Sugar


Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 10 x 15 inch baking pan.

In a large bowl, eat butter and sugar until fluffy with an electric mixer. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in almond extract and flour until well blended.

Spread batter into prepared baking pan. With the tip of a knife, lightly mark off batter into 15 equal pieces; then spoon equal portions of the cherry pie filling onto center of each marked section.

Bake for 35-40 minutes or until cake is lightly browned and a tester inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool in pan. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
