Parker House Rolls

Ingredients:

Lukewarm water

Package active dry yeast

Egg, lightly beaten

Directions:

Place cup lukewarm water in a small bowl, sprinkle the yeast and 1 tbl sugar over it. Let sit for 10 min.

Place 4 cups of flour, 6 teaspoons of sugar, and the salt into a large mixing bowl. Add the yeast mixture, the milk and the egg, stir until mixture is smooth. Add the butter and continue to mix until the dough forms medium ball.

Place the ball on a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes adding additional flour until the dough is smooth and no longer sticky.

Place the dough in a buttered bowl, Cover and let rise, free from drafts in a warm place until doubled in size approx 1 hour.

Butter 2 large baking sheets.

Punch sown the dough and place on a lightly floured surface. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about thick. With a cookie cutter, cut the dough into 3 rounds.

Shape each roll by folding over in half. Place rolls, 1 apart on prepared baking sheets, brush with melted butter and let rise, froo from drafts, for about 15-20 min.

Preheat oven to 400. Bake rolls for 12-15 min or until golden brown.
