Olive Cream Cheese Bagels

Ingredients:

Milk, scalded

Package cream cheese, softened

Butter

Package dry yeast

Sliced Green Olives

All-purpose flour

Directions:

In a medium saucepan, combine milk, cream cheese, butter, sugar, and salt. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally for 3-4 min or until lukewarm. Remove from heat, transfer to a large bowl. Add yeast and stir until dissolved. Let stnd 3 min, Whisk eggs into milk mixture. Stir inolives. Gradually stir in flour. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead 5-10 min or until dough becomes smooth and elastic. Shape into a ball and place in a greased bowl, turning to coat all over. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 30 min.

Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and punch down. Pinch off 2 tablespoons of dough for each bagel and shape into a 5 inch long roll, Form dough into a ring, overlap ends and pinch ends to seal. Place on a greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 10 min or until puffy.

Preheat oven to 400/ Fill a large saucepan with water, bring to a boil. Drop 4-5 bagels at a time and cook for 3 min, turning once. Transfer to a greased baking sheet.

Bake 25-30 min or until golden brown. Sprinkle with coarse salt if desired.

 

Yields

2-1/2 dozen bagels
