Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease two 9x5x3” loaf pans.
In a large bowl with an electric mixer cream shortening and sugar until fluffy; stir in eggs, pumpkin and water. Mix well. Blend in flour, salt, baking powder, cinnamon and cloves, stir to combine well. Add nuts and raisins; stir well. Pour into prepared pans. Bake for 65-70 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from pans and cool on wire racks.
