Grandma Laflair’s Banana Bread

Shortening Or Butter

Sugar

All-Purpose Flour

Baking Powder

Baking Soda

Salt

Mashed Bananas, (2 Very Ripe Medium)

¼

Cup

Buttermilk

Vanilla

Cup

Ealnuts, chopped (optional)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º. Grease two 9” loaf pans.

In a large bowl with an electric mixer cream together the butter and the sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs and mix well.

Sift together in a medium bowl the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture. Mixing well. Add the mashed bananas, buttermilk, vanilla and the walnuts if using. Beat until well blended. Divide the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and a tester inserted in center comes out clean.

 

Yields
