Fruit and Cheese Bread



1 Cup Butter Or Margarine

8 Ounce Cream Cheese

1-1/2 Cup Sugar

4 Eggs

1 Tsp Vanilla

2-1/2 Cup Flour

2 Tsp Baking Powder

1/2 Tsp Salt

1 Cup Candied Cherries, Chopped

1 Cup Candied Pineapple, Chopped

1 Cup Walnuts Or Pecans, Chopped

1 cup raisins or dried cranberries (optional)


Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease and flour two 7-1/2 x 3-1/2 loaf pans.

In a large bowl, cream the butter and cream cheese together, using an electric beater. Beat in sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla.

In a medium bowl, place the candied fruit, the nuts and if using the raisins or cranberries, add 1/4 cup flour and stir to coat. Set aside.

Combine the 2-1/4 cup flour, baking powder and salt and add the batter. Stir in the floured fruits and nuts. Divide batter evenly between the 2 prepared loaf pans. Bake for 60-70 minutes or until tester inserted in center comes out clean.
