Cherry Bread

 

Ingredients:

Shortening

Cup

Light Brown Sugar, Firmly Packed

Egg, Beaten

All-Purpose Flour

Baking Powder

Tsp

Salt

Cup

Milk

1/3

Cup

Syrup From Maraschino Cherries

1/3

Cup

Drained Maraschino Cherries, Chopped

Cup

Almonds, Pecan Or Walnuts, Chopped

Directions:

In a large bowl mix together the shortening, brown sugar, egg, flour, baking powder, salt and milk, fold in the cherries and nuts until blended. Let stand for 20 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350F. Grease and lightly flour a 5x9 loaf pan.

Pour batter evenly between the two prepared pans. Bake for 55-60 minutes or until golden brown and a pick inserted in center comes out clean.
