The Towers

The Towers

Located at the Narragansett Pier in the center of town, the Towers are the most conspicuous feature of Narragansett's past as an elegant summer resort. The Towers span Ocean Road at Memorial Park and are the site of numerous summer events. A boardwalk provides beautiful views of Narragansett Bay and links the Towers to the Narragansett Town Beach.

The Gate at Dunmere

Ocean Road

A drive down Ocean Road takes you along the rocky shoreline of the Narragansett Bay and past a handsome group of large, late Victorian summer cottages. Ocean Road begins at the Towers and ends at the Point Judith Lighthouse. Along the way, you will pass Black Point, the Scarborough beaches and Camp Cronin.

Black Point

Black Point

Located on Ocean Road near the Scarborough Beaches, Black Point offers tremendous views of Rhode Island's rocky coast. Black Point is a short walk down a peaceful path though a small area of woods. To the north, you can see the outline of Beavertail on Jamestown, Brenton Point in Newport and the Newport Bridge. To the south is the Point Judith Light. Out to the horizon is the Narragansett Bay.

Camp Cronin

Camp Cronin

A bumpy ride down a dirt road near the Point Judith Light on Ocean Road brings you to Camp Cronin. Located at the foot of one of the breakwalls that form the Harbor of Refuge, this is a popular fishing spot. Even if you don't fish, you can walk out on the rocks and enjoy the view.

Point Judith Light

Point Judith Light

Located at the end of Ocean Road, the Point Judith Light is on the National Register of Historic Places. The "Great Gale" of 1815 destroyed the wooden lighthouse originally built on this spot in 1806. It was replaced with the octagonal brick lighthouse that stands on the site today. Visitors are welcome on the grounds from 9:00 to 4:00. Next to the lighthouse is Rose Nullman Park - a beautiful scenic overlook with wonderful views of Narragansett Bay and the Block Island Sound.

The Breachway at Galilee

Galilee Breachway

Located at the center of Galilee, the Breachway is the best place to sit and enjoy the boats coming and going from the Port of Galilee and the Point Judith Pond. It's a popular place for an early morning cup of coffee, and a great place for a picnic lunch or dinner. There are lots of places nearby that offer take-out food that will taste even better on the rocks.
