![]() PART TWO - STEPHEN ADES by Caroline (nee Ades)
In 1985 I moved down to live in Brighton and took the opportunity to visit many of the locations referred to in my original Ades of Sussex Family History document. I located many headstones and memorial inscriptions, particularly in the churches of Brede and Sedlescombe. During one visit I took the opportunity of signing the visitors' book in Brede Church where a very interesting chat with a local parishioner had told me of a bequest the family had left to the village in the 19th Century. Several months after my visit, I was contacted by a lady in Bromley, Kent, who had further information regarding the family. Exchanging correspondence, I was amazed to see that it appeared to originate from the same source, her uncle, a genealogist. Her information consisted mainly of large lineage sheets containing the same information as my written document with the additional details of descendants of their other son, Stephen Ades.
Sadly I lost contact with this lady, and would dearly love to hear from anyone who is descended from Henry Ades of Winterbrook House, Ealing, (born 1819, died 1889) and his sons Arthur-Harry or Edward-John, and this branch of the family.
I set out below the details of Stephen Ades, son of Thomas and Mary Ades, in a similar format to that of his brothers, Thomas and Edward in Part 1. This information has not been officially verified and therefore your additions, corrections and comments are welcome.
STEPHEN ADES of Seal, Sevenoaks, Kent, and late of Home Farm, Brede married Ann Thomas, (born 1733, died 16 December 1789, buried in Brede Churchyard), and has three sons and five daughters.
Additions, Corrections and Comments Welcomed.
