Warm-Ups

Speed and confidence come from repetition. Good tone comes from listening carefully to each note you play. Did the note sustain, or did the note die out right after you picked it? Did you use any vibrato?

Play the following warm-ups every time you pick up your guitar. Listen critically to what you are playing. After each pattern, move your hand up the neck one fret and repeat the pattern. Continue all the way up the neck until you run out of frets. Once you are familiar with these patterns, your warm up will take 10 to 20 minutes. It will go slower at first. Be persistant.

The moveable scaleform diagram graphically shows you the fret pattern used for these warmups. Move one fret up the neck after each completed pattern.
