"BAD BOW's Stereo Components" This page lists the components of my stereo system. Though I don't like loud music, I do like to hear my music clear and crisp. This page will change as I add components and make changes. I can play original CD's and computer recorded CD's. The first row of pictures are of my Kenwood KDC-9007. The CD player has a flip display for security. The display will close when the stereo is turned off or powered off. Installation is complete with stereo wiring and a aftermarket mounting kit. The cage of the CD player is actually mounted on the bezel. I had to mount the cage on the bezel since the original owner hacked up the factory mounting location for a cassette player. The location also helped align the bezel flush with the new dash. The audio components of my stereo include 2-Pioneer 3" two way corner speakers under the dash, 2-Pioneer 6"x9" TS-A6908-coaxial 4 way speakers and 2- 400 watt 12" Kicker woofers. Matched together they make listening to music pleasurable. The dash speaker have a bass by-pass so only high frequencies are transmitted. The corner cab speakers and the woofer box are powered by a small 200 amp. Though the amp is underpowered its sound is remarkably good. The entire sound of the system stays within the cab. Even at moderate volume the sound stays inside the cab. Sound containment within the cab is aided by sound reducing material to keep the trucks exhaust resonance inside to a minimum. The back window and the door mirrors will vibrate with enough volume. Sound distortion appears only when the bass amplification on the amp is turned up too much. GM put 4X10 speakers in the corner of most 73-87 trucks. Luckily the engineers made the inside cab corner large enough to install a 6X9 with a fairly large magnet. I do have to wiggle my 6X9 mounting plate a little to install them since the magnet is fairly large. The mounting plate seems original but I am not sure. It seems the original owner of the truck modified the mounting plate for 6X9 speakers by using after-market grills. The back side of the corner speakers will be filled with padding once the truck is painted. Using a dual-12" woofer box behind the seat is not comfortable. The seat has to be moved forward to accommodate such a large box. Being really close to the steering wheel is uncomfortable. I raised my bench seat almost 1.25 inches with some construction cut unistrut. The spacers were used with longer bolts on all four bench seat mounting locations. The woofer box will modified at a later time. Installation of bucket seats will allow me to mount the amp between the two woofers by slightly modifying the box. The grills to protect the woofers were purchased from Radio Shack.
