PFC H. C. STROUD

PFC Stroud served with "D" Battery, 2nd Battalion, 14th Marines, 4th Marine Division. He served with distinction through the Marshall Islands, Saipan, Tinian and was killed fighting the Japanese on the Island of Iwo Jima.

His niece is now trying to piece together his service record and is desperately looking for anyone that might have known him while serving with the 14th Marines.

While serving with the 14th on Saipan he received the following Decoration Order Number 20-1944---PFC H. C. Stroud USMC 830186-- "For excellent service as a cannoneer of a Howitzer Section in the action against the enemy Japanese forces during the invasion and capture of Saipan, Marianas Islands, 15 June to 9 July 1944. As a cannoneer, his continued service and coolness under hazardous conditions, made it possible for his section to remain in action at all times."

Please, if anyone out there remembers anything, no matter how small the item might be, please contact me at, bduncan2@san.rr.com or his niece, Lenora at MsBeHaven@iname.com.

You will make one proud niece very happy. Thank you.
