My Grandfather, Francis X. Parker was with you on the Willian P. Biddle and on Ennugarrett. He was part of the 3rd Battalion 20th Marines(121st Construction Battalion). I think he went over to Roi the day before the Japanese bombed the island. Do you remember anything else about the CB's being on the island with you? I'm trying to find out what part they played as a unit of the 25th Regimental Combat team.

thank you for this wonderful site! Not only do the history books need to be re-written to put in facts but our govt. also needs to learn the fact! Especially, about the radiation exposure. My dad Estel Myers (doc) was in Nagaski when the bomb went off. Of course the officals deny he was there. My dad opened up 7 field hospitals in different prison camps and treated the men who came off the death march. He died in 1973 of cancer! Imagine that another vet dies of cancer from radiation and it still govt. offi als in denial! Currently, I am seeking compensation for my mother who is 74 and never received but 250. for burial expenses. I have contacted my congressman and with gods help she will receive what has been due her for the past 27 years since the death o my father. My dad only received 55.00 per month compensation and had serious health problems throughout his life and left my mom with 3 of us 7 kids at home with no help. Another injustice!!!!! There is a book soon to be released called "the belly of the beast" in which the main character is my father and his life as a pow. Another injustice!!Seeing how my mother was never contacted and never gave permission to reveal my fathers life. Well, I am proud to say I am the daughter of a war hero and hold the u most repect for our vets. I truly hope and pray that these men and women will receive what we as americans and our govt. owe them. Praise god for these men and women!!!!!!!!!!!

I am trying to find what ship he was on after when left Ft. Pendleton, medical records, or anything to show of his time spent in the marines. I have some letters and the original Fourth Marine Division book hat was published by the Infantry Journal Press in 1946. Can you tell me of a site that I could visit that would give me information pertaining to my uncle? Please e-mail me at ebaker18@bellsouth.net. Thank You, Eric N. Baker

For this wound he recieved the purple heart. After he was out of the Marines due to injuries he recieved, he then joined th Army. He continued to serve until he was captured and declared MIA, and or assumed dead. Dad said he escaped the enemy on his own, and was discharged soon after his return, due to injuries recieved again. He lay in a field hospital for 6 months. Upon his return to home, he scared our relatives, because the Army had reported him assumed dead, and had not notified any of his 'kin otherwise. thank you for this site and the opportunity to share with others. jsan

Great site mate. Our special day for Returned Soldiers is Anzac Day (April 25). Although most Vets don't march we have unbounded admiration for our returned diggers who fought in the real wars. In Oz we are pretty well split between Returned Soldiers ( WII and before) and Vets (Vietnam)- we don't call ourselves returned soldiers and they don't call themselves Vets. But mate we are always in awe at what you guys achieved. All the best from the Land of Oz.

I would just like to say that I enjoyed reading your stories and would have to agree, God was looking out for you. My Grandfather fought in N. Africa and Italy and was wounded also. He had the same troubles when he returned home as you (Veteran Discrimi ation). I'd just like to thank you and other veterans for defending our country and making sure that the freedom we enjoy is protected. God bless you!

Hi Dunc, Your website is most interesting. I was just a little girl when my brother-in-law,Frank Goldstein (my sister's husband) was in the armed forces. If my memory is correct, he was in the 4th armed division. He served under Patton. I remember the tel gram telling us that he was wounded and was hospitalized. We thought he would be coming home soon, but when he recovered, he was sent into the Battle of the Bulge. He did finally come home to us at the end of the war, and he never wanted to talk about his experiences. My brother and I was about 8 or 9 years old, and he would get very hot and agitated at dinner time. He said it was hard for him to adjust to civilian life after living in a foxhole for so long. He said he stayed in his clothing for such long eriods of time, that when he took his socks off, they stood up stiff. He would take my brother and me for a walk in the evening to help him calm down. I was just a little girl, but, even tho he was still fun to be with and a very loving man, he was differ nt after the war. I suppose war has a way of sobering people. He also received the medal of honor for saving a buddy. A soldier was shot and wounded and laying out on the battlefield. Frank crawled out and dragged him back to safety. I do not recall too m ch else. Frank has passed away some years ago, but he will always be a hero in my eyes.

Your site is truley, whats the word? Beautiful. Some of the things you say, are things I feel and believe, and things more people in this world should read and respect. My grandfather was an Army Air Corps B-25 pilot. One of my possesions I truly hold dear is a small book my aunt put together of his stories and pictures from the war. I will ask his permission to send the stories to you. Your site, along with other images, stories, feeling, etc., have helped convince me that I AM going to be in the mi itary, and no one can now convince me otherwise. It's just something I have to do. I am now a junior in High School, incase you wondered. The world needs to respect true heros, like yourself, more than basketball stars. People like yourself, and all p ople who have served, are true heros, and you deserve to be honored. Your page moved me, greatly. Thank you.

My Husbands father was in the Dutch Army in WW2. Several of my Great Uncles were in the Australian Infintary Forces in WW1.

I was impressed with your site. Mine has a few bugs in it that I have not been able to figure out how to fix.

I'm going to drop by your other family sites.

I truly enjoyed your page. I simply love hearing about those times. My father was also a veteran of WWII... He was a prisoner of war for a time and was awarded a purple heart. I am so grateful for all who fought to protect this great country. I stand in p re admiration of your strength and courage. I am a 4th grade teacher, and at my school, we have a huge Veteran's Day program every year. It is wonderful to know that we can teach our children about those who made this country what it is today. Thank you f r sharing. Angie Kraemer Louisiana

Hi Grandad! Your web page is extremely impressive! What a great history lesson for all generations to come! I know that this would have been very useful to me during my early years of school, when I had to write reports on that time period. However, I was one of the lucky few and honored ones to be able to interview you personally! I'm so proud to have such a wonderful grandfather! I love you! Love, Maleea
