The ICU Answer Page
Welcome to the ICU answer page!  As a registered nurse with many years of experience in the critical care field, I know how frightening an intensive care unit can be, whether you're a patient or a family member.

In today's health environment, answers to your questions can be hard to come by.  Not because the nurses and doctors don't care -- they do -- but because as patients have become more acutely ill, time is of the essence. It is also difficult for the staff to remember that while they are perfectly comfortable in their environment, to you it is a foreign country with its own language and customs.

I have put together this site as a forum to answer those Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) that we critical care nurses have heard many times over. If you or a loved one are in Intensive Care, feel free to browse.  If you're a nurse, please keep this site in mind to recommend to patients and families.

Please be sure to read the
disclaimer page, as it clearly explains the limits of the answers found on this site and of any new questions that you may ask.  If you have any questions that you would like to see added to this site, please contact me using the link below!

Once again, thanks for stopping by.  I hope this site can be of some help and comfort to you in this difficult time.
