Who Are We
In 1993, Brother Weldon Good 33o, organized a Chapter of Knights of Saint Andrew in the Valley of Tulsa, Orient of Oklahoma. The Tulsa Chapter chartered a Chapter in the Valley of Guthrie in 1993 and another Chapter in the Valley of McAlester in 1994.
The Wichita Chapter of the Knights of Saint Andrew was chartered on September 20, 1997 at the Scottish Rite Center in the Valley of Guthrie. Our charter group consisted of thirty-six members from the Valley of Wichita. In 1999 the Wichita Chapter chartered a Chapter in the Valley of Fort Scott, Orient of Kansas.
We are taught in our Blue Lodges that the principle tenents of Freemasonry are: Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth. As exemplified in the Scottish Rite 29th degree, we are taught that the great virtues of knighthood are: humility, patience, self-denial, charity, generosity, clemency, virtue, truth and honor.
The Wichita Chapter members are active 32o Scottish Rite Masons who assist the stage crew, lights and sound crew, prompters, wardrobe, degree teams, Tiling of the doors, Chain Gang Store, Pipes and Drums and serve on different committees within the Center.
For the year 2001, we have four members who are officers in the Elmo Lodge of Perfection, two members who are officers in the Wichita Chapter Rose Croix, seven members who are officers in the Wichita Council Knights of Kadosh, two members who are officers in the Wichita Consistory, two members who are officers in the Honor's Men Club and four members who are officers in the Order of the Symbolic Chain.
When Do We Meet
Our stated meeting night is the third Thursday of every month at the Wichita Scottish Rite Center, 7:00 pm. We have open business meetings and our Ladies and guests are always welcomed. We meet in either the Game Room in the basement or the dinning room in the North Annex. Entrance to the building is the northeast door, off Topeka street.
There are times when our stated meeting conflicts with other activities within the Center, so it would be advisable to call the Center to ensure that the meeting will be held on that particular evening.
Any current 32o "Black Hat" Scottish Rite Mason in good standing may join the Knights of Saint Andrew. Our application fee is currently $20.00 and annual dues are only $10.00 per year. Applications can be obtained from any Knight of Saint Andrew or from the staff of the Scottish Rite Center.
When you join the Knights, you will receive the badge and tartan of our order, which you can wear when attending functions within the Center. The badge of our order is the Saint Andrews Cross with a Knights helmet on top and a thistle at the bottom. The tartan we have chosen to wear is the Earl of Saint Andrew tartan.
We also offer a necktie of the Earl of Saint Andrew tartan and a knit style golf shirt with the emblem of our Order that you may purchase from our Quartermaster.
