    The month of December begins on a highly intense note, especially romatically and moneywise. The main event of the month is the tight conjunction of Venus and Mars at 15 degrees in Scorpio, on the background set by the Last Quarter Moon of December 5.

     The two planets of love meet in exact conjunction in Scorpio for the first time in 2 years, generously supported by the Moon, the Sun and Jupiter. Their last encounter in December 2002 was not even close as lucky as this one, and the next one in October 2006 will be even less.

     Moreover, 15 degrees Scorpio is a very sensitive place since this is where the Lunar Eclipse of May 4   took place. As eclipse points are usually reactivated by transits, the meeting of Venus and Mars in this exact place is very likely to bring about new developments related to an event, situation or relationship you were dealing with at that time (end April – early May 2004). Scorpio spells passion and money and the moment could be a very dynamic one, affecting both your love life and financial situation.

     Therefore, the month of December could bring a new love relationship in our lives, magnetic, intense and full of passion. For some, a long waiting could be over now, a much expected union becoming possible all of a sudden. For others, an old love may come back in their lives. There is however a note of mystery, of secrecy floating around. On the negative side, many could fall prey to feelings of jealousy and distrust, while others could find themselves easily betraying a life-long partner, surrendering to an irresistible attraction.

     Financially too, the situation could become rather intense. We could now be tempted to spend much more than we can afford or make some totally uninspired financial investments. Under this aspect we could be easily deceived by others and, while in crowded places, we should better keep an eye on our wallets. This is a period when it would be wise to closely watch our spending and keep away of any dishonest deals.

     The gas and water installations should be carefully checked during this time, as there is a high risk of damage. The same goes for electrical or electronic appliances of all kinds. Phones and faxes might need repairs now, there could be computer crashes happening out of the blue and it would be no surprise to hear about a new virus on the internet.

     Mercury retrograde in conjunction with Pluto and inconjunct Saturn suggests that we could now find out a secret, and getting to know the truth about some past events will come as a sigh of relief, dissipating any feelings of sadness and frustration that might have tormented us. The truth might be revealed to us by someone from our past, maybe an old friend whom we have not seen for a long time, or by finding an explanatory letter or message that was lost or intentionally kept hidden from us. The moment seems ripe for confessions and we could be totally taken by surprise when someone close declares his/her deep-burried feelings or intentions. This aspect could also bring about the secret decision to defy a taboo, to break all rules and constraints.

     The square with Neptune spells deception and highlights the temptation to take risky actions, maybe as a result of the secret revealed or of the powerful desire to act free regardless of any obstacles and restrictions, moral or otherwise – Venus in Scorpio is passionate, intense and irresistible, but she can also be totally lacking the slightest scruple when she is really after something ! As Mars square Neptune can also mean drinking too much, we should be very careful about what we propose or promise at this moment. Adding to this the Mercury retrograde phase, we should better think twice before committing to anything now, either romantically or financially. The best thing to do is wait until the 20th of December when Mercury goes direct and we shall be able to think more clearly again.

     The New Moon of December 12th brings the Sun, the Moon, Pluto and Mercury together in Sagittarius, triggering a profound change in our way of thinking and communicating. Our minds will become sharper, words will have more power, and we shall have to curb the Sagittarian inclination to being brutally honest. A great amount of tact will be required now, so as to have the perfect year end that we all want and deserve.

      The intense passions begin to calm down under Saturn’s stabilizing effect, the obstacles vanish and the sentimental relationships seem to have left behind the secret and devouring period, entering a smoother phase. Financially too, things start getting better – a note of caution however regarding the Christmas shopping tours ! With Mercury in retrograde motion, it would be better to avoid buying electrical appliances or electronic devices, because chances are they will break soon or require lots of repairing later on. If you decide to buy them anyway, try at least to get a longer warranty period.

     Mercury in sextile with both Jupiter and Neptune blesses us with inspiration and optimism. Important talks are favoured now and the last details of important projects can be discussed and agreed upon. Meeting old friends and remembering old times will fill us with joy. We could be more empathic, and the dreams we have now could prove to be very intense and significant, providing the answers we could not find before.

     Speaking of projects, it is well-known that New Moons are favourable for all beginnings. This time, however, it would be advisable to not start any new project before the 20th of December, because any agreement or contract signed during the Mercury retrograde phase will most certainly require subsequent amendments, ending up by being finally annulled. You can use this period instead for a rigurous check-up of all details, and sign the contract or begin the new project after December 20 , when Mercury resumes its direct motion. It is true that the favourable interval will be a very short one, of only 6 days ( December 20 – 26). If that cannot be done now, better wait until after the 10th of January 2005, when you will have 2 whole weeks of New Moon benefic energy.

     Starting with December 16th, romantic relationships seem to face a rather tough period. Venus makes quite a dramatic entrance in the freedom-loving sign of Sagittarius, followed by Mars one week later, both affected by a destabilizing square with Uranus. The great passion and intensity of their meeting in Scorpio seems to have been too much, resulting in a strong desire of independence. Besides, the Sun in inconjunction with Saturn highlights the same ideea of release or letting go of heavy constraints. This is a very delicate period, when we shall have to be patient, calm and tolerant with the others, if we want to avoid any quarrels and hasty breakups.

     The financial aspect will be equally difficult. We might face some unexpected expenses or be tempted to spend unwisely. Home appliances could start presenting malfunctions – beware of short circuits. Cars too will have the tendency to break more often – mainly electric problems. Also, drive carefully and try to keep away of reckless drivers. The weather could also bring some problems between the 9th and the 15th of December, with special accent on the days of 11, 12 and 13. There might be news of heavy weather conditions, earthquakes and renewed volcanic activity in various areas of the world.

     The week between Christmas and the New Year’s Eve marks a benefic change of tone. The Full Moon of 26th involves two tradition-oriented signs, with the Sun in Capricorn and the Moon in Cancer, both favourably aspected by Uranus. With Venus and Mercury conjunct in Sagittarius and lovely supported by the Jupiter-Neptune trine, the atmosphere is joyful and we can expect some very pleasant surprises.We are sentimental, happy and optimistic. If you’ve been keeping a burning desire in your soul for a long time, there couldn’t be a better moment to make a wish, as the stars are more than willing to give us a helping hand now. Get-togethers with friends and relatives, animated discussions, laughter, fun – all in all, we will be having a lovely Christmas holiday.

     A note of caution, however - just before New Year’s Eve, under the Mars – Uranus square, we could suddenly feel more rebellious and reckless, so watch out for conflicts raising out of nothing, as there is a high risk of quarrels and sudden breaks in our relationships. Also, the danger of accidents due to lack of attention and impulsiveness still resides – therefore, we should be extremely careful, no matter where we are : skiing in the mountains, in traffic, on the dancing floor or in our own kitchen !
