A little bit about our family
David and I dated for nine years before we got married. We met our freshmen year of high school and have been together ever since. We are not only husband and wife, but best friends as well. After I graduated with my elementary education degree, and he with his architectural design and construction technology degree, David proposed. We were engaged on new years eve of 1997 and married six months later on June 26, 1998. We bought a house just two blocks from my sister and her family and were anxious to start our own family. We decided to wait at least a year so we could get used to living together, enjoy some time taking small trips, and establish a budget. Exactly one year after we were married we started trying to have a baby. It didn't take long because two months later on August 10 we found out we were going to be parents. It was the day of my 24th birthday and I just had a feeling I was pregnant. I took a pregnancy test early that morning and sure enough a dark pink line appeared in the box. It was positive! I was ecstatic and couldn't wait to tell David. I didn't tell anyone all day because I wanted Dave to be the first to know. That night when he got home from work I had a little purple gift bag and in it was baby powder, shampoo, a cute little rattle, and the pregnancy test. I told him to look at the gift I got for my birthday. He looked in the bag and said, "oh how cute, who got you that?" I just looked at him, and asked him if he understood what it was. He looked in the bag again and I said, "we're pregnant." He gave me a huge hug and couldn't stop smiling. We immediately went to my sisters house to share the news with her family, my mom and dad. Then from there to David's parents house. Everyone was thrilled, and as excited about our new addition as we were. We are lucky to have all our family so close to us and a family that is as supportive and loving as ours.
