MUCH overdue UPDATES!!
We have been incredibly busy~ new horses, new sculptures in the works and all kinds of big things happening!
Having been here at the "new" place for almost 6 years, we are finally starting to settle in...the pool is done, the landscaping Jimmy works on constantly is truly beautiful and the pastures that were once over-grazed bare ground are now flush with deep grass! The barn remodeling is creeping to a start, and with the three new horses here, it is finally a necessity! Much more to come, but just a note to let everyone know I am greatly indebted for their patience with me as I struggle to keep my sanity trying to be in eight places at once. I will be purchasing my web site shortly here at Geocities and I will keep it updated with new pictures and current finished work to enjoy...also Caitlin wants to keep her page updated with how we are doing at the shows(4H/open/Paint)so that is new on HER page~ Looking forward to 2003 after all the fun we had in 2002!!!
Lori raises, trains, and shows Paints and supports the endeavor with her equine sculpture. She has been taking comissions of live horses and enjoys the response to her artwork by the horse owners. Many request their horses in certain poses and lately has been doing a lot of performance requests. The live horses are hand-raised from birth with every effort made to be present at foaling. This reduces the injury to both horses and Lori, who does all the training under saddle, while Caitlin teaches haltering, leading, loading, washing and clipping with Lori's help. Once the horse reaches 18 months, it has enough education to begin concentrating on a worthwhile career under saddle and will make a wonderful horse for any kind of owner, from beginner to experienced. After being green broke, Lori begins hauling to the many local horse arenas and giving the horse practical situations in and out of the ring. While Lori raises top bloodlines and quality horses, her goal is to produce a horse any FAMILY would enjoy to own and use.

Probably the ONLY time you'll ever see me in a dress!!!
Jimmy and I in a rare photo at a supplier's Christmas party December 1997.

AHHHH! This is more like it! Ropers and wranglers,
and setting in a saddle!! At an open show on my just-turned-two grulla overo gelding "Smokey the Wonder Paint"
(The Classic Type) in March 98. At this show we placed first in 2 & 3 year old western pleasure, and took a second in open schooling. Smokey is now owned by someone in South Carolina!

Lori and Silver winning a big mares class in Orlando in September '01!
Currently as of August 2002 Lori and Silver are 5th in the nation for PAC halter in the Paint Horse Association!!
|
Kisses are a way of comunicating with our horses; Silver as a yearling and Caitlin at 10! |
"Silver" aka 'The Girl at D'Bar' has begun her show career under Lori's training and her first time out netted her a THIRD in mares at a large open show! Silver is pictured below as a foal. This big mare can lope!! UPDATE! Lori and Silver in 6 months time have netted over 8 grands and reserves at halter in open PAC shows and are 5th in the nation for PAC halter in the Paint Horse Association! |
Silver (The Girl at D'Bar) currently in training with Lori Daniels for western pleasure, showmanship and trail.
|
Amy (American Strutter) is Caitlin's AQHA show mare. I found this mare as a 3 year old
several years ago out by the beaches, starved and abused, barely able to lift herself into
the horse trailer. She was a virtual skeleton, filthy and abused. What a miraculous
recovery she has made and over the years proven herself to be a wonderful broodmare, and a
dependable all-round horse for a little girl. UPDATE! "Amy" is now owned by Shirley Bishop of Ocala Florida.
|
Honey, shown here as a yearling, is dappled like her mother. She is the most feminine and ladylike
filly--possibly the gentlest mare I have ever raised. She is affectionate and smart, enjoys human company,
and can defend herself like a kickboxer against Smokey (her big brother) She loves to jump the tornado damage out in the woods. UPDATE** Honey now lives in Dover, Delaware and is owned and loved by her new mom, Sandy Jacobsen.
|
"The Girl at D'Bar" (Silver) is Honey's half sister, a little sassier than big sis, but a heart of gold. 'GoGo' (mom) collicked severely at birth and we spent the first three hours of her life bonding with Silver, and she is an absolute doll to handle. Born a silver grulla, she has shed out to nearly black, and was registered with the APHA as black. Here she shows how she inspires Breyer Scratching Foals. |
"Stepped in Honey' and "The Girl at D'Bar" are gentle companions as well as half sisters, spending
peaceful paddock turn out together"
|
"The Classic Type" (aka Smokey the Wonder Paint or Mad Max/Mel Gibson as a horse) Here he displays the antics
of a 2 yr. old gelding who spends too much time in a stall wearing spandex! He's a wonderful ride for such a
young horse, and is absolutely dedicated to learning his daily lesson. He does is all with style: sidepasses,
sliding stops, lead changes, backs forever turns on the quarters, and right now I'm teaching him canter transitions.
**UPDATE!!! These pictures were taken three years ago...Smokey has gone on to net countless championships in open
shows! Now as a 6 year old, he has been under the capable hands of 12 year old Caitlin, and they are showing up a
storm in Florida Paint horse shows! This big guy can go from huntseat to western with such class! Thanks to all
who have encouraged Caitlin to stay with Smokey; it has been worth it!!UPDATE January 2002: Smokey is now owned by Arlene Vetter Hallma of South Carolina!

"Stepped in Honey" as a two year old, currently under saddle and being trained by Lori Daniels. Jimmy Daniels calls
this his favorite Paint. **UPDATE! Now owned by Sandy Jacobsen in Dover, DE."

Here's Honey at her first show, taking a break with her trailer buddy, Amy (American Strutter). She did pretty
well for her first time out, but it looks like Lori's having a bad hair day. Thanks heavens for hats!
