62. John W. Carroll was born on 24 Jun 1847 in Dublin, Ireland. He died on 4 Jun 1912 in Algona, Kossuth, IA. He was buried on 7 Jun 1912 in Lindenwood Cemetery, Geneva, Franklin, IA. ⁽¹⁷⁷⁾ He was a Railroad Foreman.

!NOTES
Came to America from Dublin County, Ireland, and settled in Iowa. He worked
for the railroad. According to the 1910 Federal Census, he immigrated in 1870.
He's enumerated in teh 1910 Fed. Census on page 15A. They were living at 920
Diagonal Street. He was married to Malinda Buckmaster on 30 Apr 1876 in Washington Twp., Appanoose County, IA.⁽¹⁷⁸⁾

63. Malinda Buckmaster was born on 10 May 1859 in Washington Twp., Appanoose, IA. She died on 20 May 1912 in Algona, Kossuth, IA.⁽¹⁷⁹⁾ She was buried on 22 May 1912 in Lindenwood Cemetery, Geneva, Franklin, IA. ⁽¹⁸⁰⁾ She was a Housewife.

!NOTES:
Death record from Kossuth County, IA says that she died on May 20, 1912, and
was buried on May 22, 1912. Said she died from cancer of the liver. Children were:

i. Daniel "Dan" Carroll was born on 21 Mar 1877 in Appanoose County, IA. He was buried in Apr 1908 in Lindenwood Cemetery, Geneva, Franklin, IA. ⁽¹⁸¹⁾ He died on 23 Apr 1908 in Iowa.

!NOTES:
It was related to me by Rose Mullen WILCOX that Dan died a hero. He was in
the process of saving some victims of a fire and a stairway collapsed under
him. He died as a result of injuries and burns sustained in the fire. It is
believed that he never married.
ii. Rachel "Ella" Carroll was born on 7 Aug 1879 in Appanoose County, IA. She died on 5 Feb 1915. She married someone named McFadden.

Enumerated in 1910 Federal Census in Kossuth Co., IA, on Pg. 15A, ED 151 Ward
3, on the 4th of April 1910. Still living with parents, sisters, & brothers.
31 iii. Grace Mae Carroll.
iv. Blanche Viola Carroll was born on 21 Jun 1884 in Appanoose County, IA. She died in 1964. She was buried in 1964 in Algona, Kossuth, IA.  She married Walter H. Slagle.
v. Harriet Goldie "Hattie" Carroll was born on 4 Sep 1886 in Hedrick, Keokuk, IA.⁽¹⁸²⁾ She died on 26 Mar 1977 in Bellevue, King, WA. She was buried on 30 Mar 1977 in Calvary Cemetery, Seattle, King, WA. She was a Milliner in Store. She had Social Security Number 532-22-4479.⁽¹⁸³⁾  She married Arthur E. Mullen.

!NOTES:
SSDI says that the last payments were sent to Bellevue, King Co., WA.
According to Harriet's birth certificate (copy in file) she was the 6th child
of Malinda's.
vi. Charles "Charlie" Carroll was born on 23 Jun 1888 in Appanoose County, IA. He died on 9 Feb 1918 in Washington (State). He was a Cigar Maker in Factory.

!NOTES:
Rose Marie Mullen Bortko Wilcox told me that Charlie had gotten married, had
a couple of children, and then developed Tuberculosis. He went to stay at a
facility where he was treated for TB until he died. She said that after he
went to the facility, his wife left him, took the kids, and was never heard
from again.
vii. Cressie Carroll was born on 26 Dec 1890 in Iowa. She died on 22 Aug 1891 in Geneva, Franklin, IA. She was buried on 23 Aug 1891 in Lindenwood Cemetery, Geneva, Franklin, IA.⁽¹⁸⁴⁾
viii. John Carroll Jr. was born on 11 Jan 1894 in Iowa. He died on 14 May 1897 in Geneva, Franklin, IA. He was buried on 15 May 1897 in Lindenwood Cemetery, Geneva, Franklin, IA.⁽¹⁸⁵⁾
