"My Story"
How It All Started
My name is Jennifer Martinek.  I was born on October 16, 1964 in Cleveland, OH.  My adoption was done through the Catholic Agencies.  I was taken from Cleveland to Warren, OH where I was placed with a foster family by the name of Balas.  I was to stay here until I was adopted by a loving couple.  Well, needless to say, I did not have very long to wait.
I was soon adopted by Lawrence and Kathrene Kotasek from Warren.  "He" was Slovak and worked at Republic Steel in Youngstown.  "She" was Greek and, prior to adopting me, worked at The Tribune Chronicle where she was a Typesetter.
This is my "mom", Kathrene.
Unfortunately, they were unable to have children of their own.  You see, a few years before, my "mom" was involved in a really bad car accident.  A drunk driver had run a red light, and slammed into her car as she was going through the intersection.  She was thrown out of the car, and landed on the front lawn of a church.  She was in a coma for 5 days.  The doctor informed her that she had a fractured pelvis which, as a result, punctured her uterus.  If they did try and get pregnant, she would either miscarry or the baby would be stillborn. So they decided to adopt, and this is how I came into their lives.
