The
Battle of Kursk:
The
Battle of Kursk took place in
the summer of 1943 and was one of the most significant battles of the Eastern
Front and the Second World War. It remains the largest armored engagement of all
time, and included the most costly single day of aerial warfare in history.
Though the Germans planned and initiated an offensive strike, the Soviet defense
managed to stop their ambitions and launch a successful counteroffensive.
