What is The O'Meara WebRing? 

The O'Meara WebRing is a group of united web pages and sites -- all of which have genealogy data on them in one form or another. The goal is to share genealogy information to any that need it. Remember to please ask before you use anything from somebody's site! The the only restriction placed on you is that the required element of genealogy information resides on your site. You can be a member of any other societies, Web Rings, or services that you wish! 

How do I join? 

First, look over the following requirements. You MUST agree to abide by them before you apply. 

  • Your page must contain information related to O'Meara Genealogy, or O'Meara family trees. It cannot be a "jump site" to another server. You must have genealogy infomation on your site. 
  • You must have a site that is well maintained.
  • You must have a site that has NO pornography or offensive pictures or text.
  • There are two ways to be deleted from the ring:
    1. You remove your ring code. Yes, people do join for the hits, but remove the ring code. You will immediately be removed from "rotation" in the ring if you do! I will immediately email you and tell you why. 
    2. You move your genealogy information. Remember, you must have genealogy information on your site-- not FTM, Rootsweb, or anywhere else. You may have a link to additional information elsewhere, but some of your information must be on your page. 
    When you join the ring you will be assigned a unique ring ID number, and be added to the queue. You must remember your ring number and password!
Secondly, to become a member of The O'Meara WebRing, you must fill out the webring form. 

Third, after you have filled out the form, you will need to add the HTML code that will be mailed to you with your ring confirmation (or you can use one of the alternate codes (soon)) to your site within 7 days.  Email the O'Meara WebMaster when you have added the code to your site.  

Make sure that I can find the code easily (please!) 

You can use the code that is sent to you as is-- just "cut" it from your email and "paste" it into your page-- or you can choose from any of the codes on our alternate codes page (soon). You must have one on your page somewhere, or an easily visible link to it. Below is the code that will be automatically sent to you: 
 
 
 
This code already has your site id, and a link to the graphic---you do NOTHING except add the code that will be sent you to your page. We have endevored to make this as simple as possible!!!

Remember!! If you choose one of the ALTERNATE codes, you must change the YOURSITEID in the code, to the actual site ID number that you will receive via e-mail, and add the graphic to your site.
Alright. That's done... Now what?
You have to email Me!--your RingMaster, and tell me you are ready to go! I will visit your site, and if all is well, I will add you---usually the same day. If there is something wrong, I will tell you what it is and have you fix it--then add you.
If you haven't been added within 7 days, the queue will automatically remove you. So add the code as soon as you can. If you have ANY problems, email me.
