Faerie, Faerie come to me
Do not hide up in that tree.
Wings aflutter, shining bright,
Do you not fear the height?

Tell me Faerie, if you please
Why you dance and why you tease.
O dear Faerie come and play
And help me pass the day away!

The True Adventures of Kira

It was spring time and I was six years old when one day I went exploring. I went exploring in the woodland forrest down by the creek near my home - just to pass the time. The sun was shining, but it barely penetrated through the thickness of the leaves in the trees.

Here I am, walking along the forrest path

There was bird song in the air, and the sound of little animals going hurry, scurry through the under brush. The water rippling over the rocks was music to my young ears.

While exploring, I spied an inch worm, inch worm,A busy inch worm measuring the

Then I saw a little lady bug on a leaf stalk, and I told her, "Lady Bug, lady bug, fly away home. Your house is on fire and your children are alone." and she promptly flew off to rescue her family. This is our ladybug, Arabella, she looks comfy.

The whole while I kept seeing flittering and fluttering out of the corner of my eyes. When I would look, there would be just the usual moths and gnats and beetle bailey bugs.

I had just found a four leaf clover when suddenly, the filttering and fluttering became much more noticeable.

A 4-leaf clover, they're good luck you know!
Here I am again, picking a clover I looked up from my leaf inspections and there were butterflies and dragonflies and faeries all around!

I wasn't surprised by seeing the butterflies, but I was surprised by how many of them there were. It seemed like there were hundreds of them all around.

A Beautiful Faerie Just one of the hundreds of butterflies One of the many dragonflies helping Frinkin
Another of the dragonflies - cute isn't he!

And I was very surprised by the dragonflies and faeries!
The dragonflies were little green dragons with wings!

And one of them had the hiccups and was sneezing. Every time he would hiccup or sneeze, flames would shoot from his nostrils.

Hiccup, flame! Sneeeeze, flame! Hiccup, flame! Sneeeeze, flame! and so it would go.

Wow! That was a very powerful sneeze! - This is Frinkin (in case you hadn't figured that out yet)

I could certainly see where I could be in danger being so close to all of this commotion. I wanted to flee the woodland forrest, but I couldn't. I was transfixed.

It seemed to me that the faeries and the other dragonflies were escorting this one poor, miserable dragonfly. To where I could only imagine.

They got him to the creek, and there he sat - right in the middle of the water on a big rock. Now, every time he would sneeze or hiccup, he would aim his flame into the water - where it wouldn't burn up the woodland forrest.

Me, sitting quietly

Some of the faeries then seemed to notice me. They looked a bit nervous too. You see, faeries don't usually show themselves to us humans, nor do the true dragonflies either!

I sat very still and was very quiet, so as not to frighten them away.

One of the faeries came closer to me, he flittered and he fluttered about my head.

Then when he was quite satisfied he said, "Dear Lady, you have been given a very special gift today, for you have been blessed with 'Faerie Sight'. From this day forward you will be able to see us faeries. We see that you are kind and your heart is pure, and we trust that you will cause no harm to come to our kind."

I was amazed! I stuttered and I stammered, and finally I found my tongue, "Dear Faerie, if you please, what makes me so special that I would receive this wondrous gift?"

"Well" says he, "You have warned Sweet Arabella of the danger to her family, and she was able to save them from certain death."

"Excuse me," I interrupted, "but who is Sweet Arabella?"

You see, I had completely forgotten everything else that happened earlier that day. My mind was so filled with awe that all I could think of was the scene before me.

"Arabella is the Lady Bug that you warned when you told her that her that her house was on fire, and her children were alone." says the faerie.

Dankin, as he told me was his name, went on to explain that dragonflies and butterflies and faeries are kinsmen. Distant relatives mind you, but still, family is family.

They heard of poor Frinkin's troubles. Oh, Frinkin is the name of the dragonfly with the terrible head cold - topped with a severe case of hiccups.

Well anyway, everyone knows the damage that can happen to the woodland forrest when a dragonfly gets the hiccups, or a cold - but to get both at once! it could be devastating.

So all the faeries and all the butterflies rushed to Dragonfly Knolls (this is where the dragonflies live you know) to help protect the woodland forrest from Frinkin's flames.

The faeries met the entourage of butterflies and dragonflies escorting Frankin to the water, and out of harm's way until his Hiccups and sneeeezing fit had ended.

aaahhh aaahhhh chooooo!!!! Poor Frinkin!

They (the faeries)themselves led the way to the creek, warning the creatures of the woodland forrest of the danger as they went. However, they were unable to warn Sweet Arabella as she was not at home.

Cute Bunnies - they are safe and sound now, thanks to the Faeries!

Luckily, I did warn her in time, and now she and her children are safe.

It's been 70 years since that day by the creek in the woodland forrest, I'm a very old lady now, and every day my faerie sight has not failed me.

Did you know that faeries are every where! not just in the woodlands, down by the creek.

Those Faeries - forever playing with the cats.

And did you know that pussy cats too have faerie sight? They are born with it. Often times you will see them jumping and chasing after what you think is 'nothing', when in reality it is the faeries who love the little kitty cats and who are forever teasing and playing with them.

Dragonflies though, are harder to see in their true form. To the average human eye they look like ordinary bugs, but that is just to protect them from being caught by naughty little boys and kept in jars with no food or water or freedom.

Dragonflies look like this when they are in disguise from us humans.
I Believe - do you?

YOU can see the faeries though, if you BELIEVE in them! They are easiest to see if you are very quiet and sit very still when the sunlight is shining through the window panes. You might at first think that they are dust, but if you try hard enough, and if you truly BELIEVE in faeries you will see them.

Another way to see the faeries is when you are outside, sitting quietly in the grass. If you begin to notice the butterflies or the dragonflies be on the alert - because faeries are close by too!

Good luck to you when you go searching for faeries! Remember, you must be kind, and have a pure heart to be gifted with faerie sight.

Help to keep the magick alive by remembering to tell everyone that YOU believe in Faeries!
