As R Divsion personnel are first to point out, the "R" stands
for "repair," not "re-do." The word "repair," along
with "maintenance" and "damage control," describes very well the
function of the division.
R Division shops are kept busy day and night, seven days a week, effecting repairs to the
ship's hull, strenght members, firemain, ventilation and plumbing systems.
Hand-in-hand with repair is maintenance. The division's shops are engaged in a
never-ending program of PMS and maintenance of the hull and piping and ducting systems.
Damage Control is another key word in the division's definition. R Division
personnel for the heart of any repair party, and the division is responsible for all
damage control fand fire-fighting gear.
Finally, R Divsions shops are microfactories, producing custom-made items for offices and
working spaces.
