| The primary mission of the Medical Department
is to maintain the health of the officers and men embarked. Through daily routine
and emergency visits, up to 1,000 sick call visits are registered monthly. A 10-bed
ward is available, and fully qualified technicians provide laboratory, X-ray and
electrocardiographic services. A pharmacy technician dispenses 700-800 prescriptions
each month from among 200 different drug items in stock. All personnel in the Medical Department are trained to provide any service needed in time of emergency. An important function of Medical and Dental is conducting an extensive preventive medicine program through lectures to all hands. |

The Dental Department provides the crew
with the best possible dental treatment. In order to accomplish this objective, the
department has a dentist, two dental technicians and a trainee, who use the most modern
