While the boilers produce the basic energy - steam - to propel the
Oklahoma City, this energy must be converted into usable mechanical energy. This is
the job of the main propulsion division, M Division.
The machinist mates (MMs) operate and maintain the ship's four main engines and
turbo-generators which supply the ship's power.
